She also presents workshops and classes at various colleges/universities, schools and adult centers.
Kate's medium of choice is watercolor, Other media she favors includes colored pencils, graphite, conte, sumi ink and acrylic. She regularly displays her works in Boston and has exhibited in Japan and Italy. Sold pieces are in private and corporate collections.
Having spent her early childhood in Japan, she later acquired a deep appreciation for Japanese culture while training in tea ceremony, calligraphy and sumi painting.
The opportunity for extensive travel in the 1980's and 1990's broadened her worldview. Kate co-organized and participated in kayaking trips for artists led by Kaji Aso down major rivers of the world- including the Mississippi, the Volga, the Nile, the Seine and others. These trips were inspired by his "art does not come from art- art comes from life" philosophy. After returning to Boston, large art exhibitions highlighting these trips were held in public venues; including Boston City Hall, South Station, and the Boston Public Library.
